History of Leiters For over forty years, Leiters’ Fine Catering, Inc., has provided high quality food, outstanding service, and a commitment to excellence to clients throughout the Washington County area and beyond. This family-owned and operated business initially started as a root beer stand in 1947. Based on the Dual Highway at the Richardson's Snack Bar, the business was owned by Sam Leiter, his sister and brother-in-law. Sam assumed management of Richardson’s in 1949. With a new building addition in 1960, curb service was added to the thriving business. Whether purchasing a tasty sandwich and a root beer, or simply hanging out with friends, Richardson’s was a popular spot for all ages. In 1968, the already successful business branched out into catering; the beginning of what has today become Leiters’ Fine Catering. Samuel Leiter and wife Virginia “Be” Leiter left Richardson’s
in 1976, continuing to cater from a diner on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown.
In 1982, the Williamsport Volunteer Fire Company offered their banquet
and kitchen facility as a home base for Leiters’ Fine Catering,
Inc. In 1988, Dave Leiter, the second generation, became a full-time employee,
utilizing his knowledge of the food business from his previous employment
at Richardson’s Snack Bar. Teri, Dave’s wife, joined the catering
team in 1994.Currently, owners Dave and Teri Leiter provide services for a wide variety of events ranging from intimate dinner parties to memorable, one-of-a-kind wedding receptions and large corporate picnics. Leiters’ takes pride in working with clients personally to ensure that menus, rentals, staffing and décor are personalized, equally pleasing to both the eye and taste buds. Thanks to the unyielding foundation and positive reputation set by Sam and Be Leiter, present-day owners Dave and Teri, as well as the four Leiter children, Becki, Jeremiah, Jessica, and Samuel, keep this third generation, family-owned business going strong. The Leiters’ Fine Catering, Inc. mottos are “It is Our Pleasure to Serve You,” and “One Call Does It All!” Leiters’ gives your event the attention it deserves with unparalleled timely service, expertly prepared homemade foods and inspired presentations. You can trust us to create menus of the finest quality for every occasion. Meals are expertly  prepared in Health Department approved
kitchens using only the freshest ingredients available. We transport
your foods in thermal carriers designed to ensure the food maintains
the proper temperature for delicious eating and for customer
safety.
